5/19/2025—Magistrates approved the first reading of an ordinance adopting the 2025/26 Fiscal Year budget at the regular meeting of Fiscal Court Monday morning.  The total budget is $13,665,209.71.  Several changes will be made to the budget prior to the second reading. Second District Magistrate Shane Beavin asked that the new equipment line item be increased by $50,000 and Sixth District Magistrate Brandon Henning asked for an increase in the line item for asphalt.

 

In other business, Magistrates adopted the 2025/26 Fiscal Year standing orders.  This allows pre-approval of payment of payroll and utility expenses.

 

The Court approved the Administrative Office of the Courts reimbursement form for the Judicial Center.  The estimated reimbursement is $269,900.00.

 

The following Pool Employees were hired:  Manager: Amelia Foran; Chemical and Pool Pump Manager: Amy Cox; Lifeguards: Abigail Delacruz, Faith Edwards(pending certification), and Amelia Lancaster(pending certification); Gatekeepers: Peyton Kennedy, Grant Barr, Lucy Critchelow, Datayrion Ferry, Bianca Hall, Walter Hopper, Cameron Kingsbury, Kaylee Laslie, Madalyn Neff, Ireland Trimble, Camryn Sturgeon, Allyssa Taylor, David Williams, and Kylie Stump.

 

The Court approved the Waste Tire Agreement for July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.  Over 39,000 tires were deposited at the most recent tire turn in.

 

A new line item in the budget for opioid settlement funds was approved.

 

Maggie Whobrey was hired as 911 Dispatcher retroactive to March 1, 2025.

 

Magistrates approved the Breckinridge County Library Budget of $1,094,200.00.  Ian Brockman was appointed to the Library Board, and Karen Aulbach was reappointed to the Board.

 

Mago Construction will begin asphalt work on county roads next week.  Roads will be chipped and sealed after July 1.

 

The inmate population at the Detention Center is 180.

 

The Sheriff’s Department received 929 calls for service in April.

 

The Court discussed adopting an emergency response computer program but took no action.

 

Magistrates approved a motion to have the Road Viewing Committee inspect Pleasant Valley Spur, located in the Fourth District.  Magistrates discussed the need to correct the length of several roads in the county.  It was decided that this must be done by a resolution adopted by the Court.

 

The Court entered executive session to discuss pending litigation but took no action.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, an LGEA/CRA Public Hearing was held.  No one spoke at the meeting.

 

The next meeting of the Court will be June 23, 2025, at 9:00am.
