FRANKFORT (06/05/25)  — A central Kentucky man accused of setting a fire last week that killed his two teenage sons has pled innocent to charges during a court appearance on Monday.

44-year-old Dustin Fields is facing two counts of first degree arson after a fire early Wednesday morning at a residence outside of Frankfort that left his two teenage sons dead. The bodies were discovered after firefighters extinguished the blaze. Authorities said an arson K-9 found traces of accelerants at different locations around the remains of the structure and near where the bodies were discovered.

Bond for Fields is set at two million dollars, with prosecutors objecting to Fields’ request to be released to attend his sons’ funeral. A preliminary hearing is set for May 13th in Franklin District Court.
