ST. PETERSBURG, Fl. (04/30/25) — A Kentucky man who claimed a $167M lottery prize earlier this week is now in a Florida jail. James Farthing of Georgetown was taken into custody early Wednesday morning in Pinellas County for assault on an officer. Farthing was at a hotel Tuesday night when an officer tried to intervene in an altercation. The victim claims Farthing punched him with a closed fist. The arresting officer says that Farthing kicked him in the face. The officer also said Farthing refused to comply with his orders and resisted arrest. Farthing is charged with battery of a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer and battery as well as violating parole.
