APARTMENT FIRE LATEST: Investigation On-Going, Update On Donations To Help Those Displaced By Fire

IRVINGTON (04/11/25) — The investigation continues following Wednesday’s fire that gutted an apartment building in Irvington. Both Fire Chief Jeremy Houghlin and Mayor Charles Douglas Lucas told WXBC News that the State Fire Marshal’s office is continuing the investigation of the fire. Lucas reported that occupants are not still cleared to go back into the building, but instead contact Chief Jason Ballman on the possibility of going back to retrieve the valuables. Lucas told WXBC that donations of personal hygiene and non-perishable food items, gift cards and monetary donations to help the nearly 30 people displaced by the fire. He said clothing donations have left the Irvington Mission Center full, with any additional taken to Irvington Baptist Church.
