Customers reported that phones were in “SOS” mode allowing for only emergency calls. The company did not provide an explanation as to the cause of this issue but apologized for the inconvenience. Repairs occurred just hours after the Federal Communications Commission said it would investigate the network outage.

UNDATED (09/30/24) – Verizon customers are reportedly encountering issues with their cell phone service.
Reports have been received from customers around the country saying their devices being in “SOS” mode for emergency phone calls only. The company’s outage page on it’s website was not loading on checking just before 10:30 Central time Monday morning.
A company spokesperson has confirmed “an issue impacting service for some customers” and that engineers were working to resolve the matter.
