CLARKSON (06/06/24) — What began as a stop to check on a stalled vehicle in the middle of U.S. 62 in Clarkson on Thursday ended with three people arrested. Sheriff Norman Chaffins stopped just after 8am Thursday to check on the vehicle and found two people sleeping inside. As he was talking to the two, the driver, 47-year-old Richard May of Harold, returned with a gas can but began to throw up. The man who had been asleep then suffered a seizure. After being told he had used opioids earlier in the day, Chaffins administered Narcan to 42-year-old John Absher of Bunker Hill, Indiana, who was taken to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes, then to Norton Hospital in Louisville for treatment. The Sheriff’s Department said Absher and the female both gave false identifying information. 34-year-old Casey Lester of Tollesboro, Absher and May are all facing multiple charges following the incident.
