The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for ground beef products possibly contaminated with E. coli.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service said the alert is to warn consumers these ground beef products should not be eaten. The products are no longer available for purchase so a recall has not been requested. The ground beef items were produced on March 28, 2024, and have a “Use/Freeze by” date of April 22, 2024, and a packaging date of “032824.”

The problem was discovered by a food establishment while conducting an inventory of product that was on hold because it was found positive for E. coli. That product was accidentally used to produce ground beef products that were shipped out. No illnesses from the contaminated beef have been reported. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.
