BROWNSVILLE (04/05/24) – An Edmonson County woman was arrested after she nearly hit a deputy with her vehicle late last week. The Sheriff’s Office there said Chief Deputy Tim Jackson was patrolling Friday when a vehicle driven by 48-year-old Ponda Bennett of Brownsville nearly hit Jackson’s vehicle along Wingfield Church Road. Jackson fled from the deputy but stopped later in a driveway where she was taken into custody after she tried to flee from the deputy for a second time on foot. Authorities found meth, scales and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
