KSP Releases Accident Details

BALLTOWN – Kentucky State Police has released further information regarding a two vehicle accident near Balltown Thursday (2/8) morning. Police said the accident happened when a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Jerry Lucas was traveling west on Highway 992, when for an unknown reason he crossed the center line and struck a eastbound 2022 Kenworth dump truck driven by Jeremy Henning.

Lucas was extricated from the vehicle by the fire department and airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital by Air Methods Air Ambulance with life-threatening injuries. A passenger in Lucas’s truck, James Waddell was taken to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing by Kentucky State Police.
