JACKSON, Ky. (AP) — Governor Andy Beshear says at least eight people have died from flooding triggered by heavy rain in eastern Kentucky. Beshear said Thursday that property damage has been massive with hundreds losing their homes. The Emergency Management Director in Perry County is calling the damage there “catastrophic”. Some 30-thousand people in eastern Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia lost power as a result of the storms.

Locally, the Kentucky Mesonet station near Hardinsburg recorded over three inches of rain in the past 24 hours, most of that falling between 4:30 and 6:30 last night.
