NFL: Titans Beat Green Bay; Seahawks Hold Off Pats

UNDATED (AP) — It was about two years too late, but the Seattle Seahawks will take it.

The Seahawks used a goal-line stand to secure a 31-24 win over the Patriots. It was a role-reversal for Seattle, two years after they lost the Super Bowl to New England on Malcolm Butler’s interception of Russell Wilson at the goal line. This time, Tom Brady failed to connect with Rob Gronkowski on a fade route on fourth down after the Pats had first-and-goal from inside the Seattle 2. LeGarrette Blount couldn’t cross the goal line on the drive after rushing for three touchdowns.

Doug Baldwin caught three touchdown passes from Wilson, including a 15-yarder for the final margin. Wilson was 25 of 37 for 348 yards as the Seahawks improved to 6-2-1.

The Pats fell to 7-2 despite Brady’s 316 passing yards. Brady also threw New England’s first interception of the season, a span of 258 passes.

It’s now an eight-game winning streak for the Dallas Cowboys since their season-opening loss to the Giants.

Ezekiel Elliott ran for two touchdowns in the final two minutes to lead a 35-30 triumph at Pittsburgh. Elliott ran for 114 yards and also had an 83-yard catch-and-run for a score to help the Cowboys match the longest single-season win streak in club history.

Dak Prescott overcame an early fumble to pass for 319 yards and two scores as the Cowboys dropped the Steelers to 4-5.

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns.

In other games:

— Philadelphia grounded Atlanta’s high flying offense in a 24-15 win over the NFC South leaders. The Falcons entered the game averaging 33.8 points, but they controlled the ball for just 22 minutes compared to the Eagles’ 38. Ryan Mathews rushed for 108 yards and two scores as the 5-4 Eagles rolled up 208 yards on the ground. The only touchdown for the 6-4 Falcons came on a 76-yard pass from Matt Ryan to Taylor Gabriel in the fourth quarter.

— Will Parks ran back a blocked extra point attempt 84 yards for the decisive two points in Denver’s 25-23 win over New Orleans. It’s the first time in NFL history a game has been decided by such a play, and it came after Brandin Cooks’ twisting, 32-yard touchdown reception tied the score. Justin Simmons leaped over the offensive line to block the kick, and Parks did the rest.

— Marcus Mariota threw four touchdown passes to lead Tennessee to a 47-25 win over Green Bay. DeMarco Murray scored on a 75-yard touchdown run and threw a 10-yard scoring pass for the 5-5 Titans, who have equaled their combined win total from the last two seasons. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers ran for a 20-yard score and threw for two others, but it wasn’t enough to keep his team from falling to 4-5.

— Cairo Santos kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to hand Kansas City a 20-17 win over Carolina. The winning kick was set up with the Chiefs’ Marcus Peters stripping the ball from Kelvin Benjamin after a catch with 20 seconds left. Kansas City improved to 7-2 with its fifth straight win and moved into a tie with idle Oakland for first in the AFC West. Cam Newton threw for a touchdown and ran for another for 3-6 Carolina.

— Brock Osweiler threw for two touchdowns and Kareem Jackson returned an interception for another score in Houston’s 24-13 win over Jacksonville. The AFC South-leading Texans are 6-3 after their first road win of the season. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles threw two interceptions, giving him six in the last five games.

— Kirk Cousins passed for two touchdowns to lead Washington’s 26-20 win over slumping Minnesota. The Redskins won for the first time in almost a month to improve to 5-3-1. The Vikings lost their fourth in a row since a 5-0 start, dropping them into a first-place tie with Detroit in the NFC North.

— Kiko Alonso brought back a Philip Rivers interception 60 yards for a TD with 1:01 remaining to complete Miami’s comeback from a 24-21 deficit in a 31-24 victory at San Diego. David Johnson was held to 55 yards on 19 carries, but he also scored two touchdowns and finished with 101 yards from scrimmage to help the Cardinals deal the 49ers their eighth consecutive loss. Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw for 210 yards and tied the game on a four-yard run with 1:55 left.

— Jaimes Winston threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns in Tampa Bay’s 36-10 win over Chicago. Winston provided TD tosses of 10 yards to Cameron Brate and 43 yards to Freddie Martino to help the Buccaneers improve to 4-5 with their first home win. The Bucs’ defense forced four turnovers and sacked Jay Cutler four times.

— Greg Zuerlein’s third field goal of the game snapped a tie with 6:52 left in the Rams’ 9-6 win over the Jets. Alex Ogletree clinched the victory for the 4-5 Rams by intercepting Bryce Petty with under two minutes to go. Petty was making his first NFL start at quarterback and threw his first touchdown pass for the Jets only points.
