NFL: Raiders Win; Colts Hold Off Packers; Titans Lose In San Diego

UNDATED (AP) — In perhaps the biggest NFL game in Oakland since the team went to the Super Bowl following the 2002 season, the Raiders came up big.

Latavius Murray ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns and the Raiders showed they were ready for prime time, beating the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos 30-20.

The 7-2 Raiders took over sole possession of first place in the AFC West. The loss dropped the 6-3 Broncos into third place in the division, a half-game back of Kansas City. Derek Carr threw for 184 yards with no interceptions.

In other Week 9 action:

Dak Prescott, the outstanding rookie quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, threw three touchdown passes in a 35-10 win over the winless Cleveland Browns. Fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 92 yards and scored twice in the win, the seventh straight for Prescott and the Cowboys since losing the season opener. The defeat leaves Cleveland winless in nine games this season. The Browns have dropped a franchise-record 12 straight games going back to last season and in their last 30 games are 3-27.

— In an NFC East battle Eli Manning threw for four touchdowns and the New York defense had two interceptions and three stops on fourth downs to beat the Eagles 28-23. The Giants have won three in a row and are now in second place in the division behind the 7-1 Cowboys. After starting the season 3-0, the Eagles have dropped to 4-4. Two of Manning’s touchdowns went to Odell Beckham Jr., with the others to Roger Lewis Jr. and Sterling Shepard.

— The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 6-2 with a 19-14 win over visiting Jacksonville. Nick Foles threw for 187 yards and a first-half touchdown in the victory and helped set up four field goals by Cairo Santos. The loss dropped the Jags to 2-6.

— The Ravens snapped a four-game losing streak with a 21-14 win over the Steelers in a matchup of AFC North rivals. Joe Flacco threw a 95-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace in the win which put Baltimore into a tie with Pittsburgh for first place in the division. The game marked the return of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger who underwent knee surgery just three weeks ago. The Steelers have lost their last three games.

— Melvin Gordon ran for a career-high 196 yards and scored the go-ahead TD on a 1-yard run in the San Diego Chargers’ 43-35 victory over the Tennessee Titans, who still haven’t won in San Diego since 1990. Gordon leads the NFL with 11 touchdowns. Both teams are 4-5.

— The Lions walked off the field with an overtime win. Matthew Stafford threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate to secure the victory. The Lions forced the overtime session with a 58-yard field goal by Matt Prater as time expired. Stafford completed 23 of 36 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the 5-4 Lions, who have won four of their past five games. For the Vikings Sam Bradford completed 31 of 40 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown. After starting the season 5-0 the Vikes have dropped three straight.

— Dolphins’ rookie Kenyan Drake scored untouched on a 96-yard kickoff return with 5:15 left in Miami’s 27-23 win over the Jets. Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi rushed for 111 yards and helped to run out the clock after the Dolphins came from behind for the third time. The 4-4 Dolphins won their third game in a row, while New York fell deeper into last place in the AFC East at 3-6. The Jets hurt themselves with four personal foul penalties, two interceptions thrown by Ryan Fitzpatrick and numerous missed chances.

— The Indianapolis Colts marched into Lambeau Field and upset the Green Bay Packers 31-26 to improve to 4-5. Andrew Luck completed 23 of 36 for 282 yards and one TD for the Colts. The Packers are 4-4.

— Cam Newton endured five sacks but passed for 225 yards and a touchdown, and the Carolina Panthers’ defense shut down the Los Angeles Rams, 13-10. Greg Olsen caught a touchdown pass in the first half. Both teams are 3-5.

—Drew Brees threw for 323 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to Michael Thomas and another to Mark Ingram as the New Orleans Saints beat the lowly San Francisco 49ers 41-23. Ingram also ran for a 75-yard score as the 4-4 Saints got back in the NFC South race. The Niners are 1-7.
