4/1/2024—The Irvington City Council approved a motion to purchase water from the City of Hardinsburg for the Lon Dowell Road Water Line Extension project at their regular meeting Monday evening.  The Council had previously agreed to purchase water from Meade County.  Hardinsburg City Clerk David Bollinger said Hardinsburg has recently expanded its capacity to provide water.  Water from Hardinsburg is also less expensive than water from Meade County.  Bluegrass Engineering will have to resubmit plans to the Division of Water to reflect the change.

 

In other business, the City is holding $5,764.00 in retainage funds for the Service Line Replacement Project until final cleanup is performed.  The city has been billed $9,726.46 for materials.

 

Mayor Charles Douglas Lucas informed the Council that the City of Hardinsburg has increased wholesale water from $2.37 per 1000 gallons to $2.57.  The Council discussed increasing water rates to customers by 9%.  An ordinance will be presented at the next meeting.

 

Councilwoman Rhea Ballman asked the Council to consider increasing Council and Mayor pay by $300 per year.  An ordinance will be presented at the next Council meeting.

 

The Council approved a new business license for Eddie Kennedy Mowing.

 

Dakota Bishop has been hired for the Operations/Maintenance Department.

 

Mayor Lucas said mapping of the Cedar Hill Cemetery has been completed.

 

Police Chief Jason Ballman said the Department received 377 calls for service between February 1 and March 31.  They issued 32 citations, 65 charges, and worked five collisions.  Officer Richard Winburn has resigned and accepted a position with the Vine Grove Police Department.  Vine Grove has agreed to reimburse Irvington for Officer Winburn’s training expenses.  The Council approved a motion to surplus a 2017 Dodge Charger cruiser.

 

Joe Drake told the Council about costs for constructing dugouts, extending a sewer line, and field maintenance at the Vance Simmons Park.  No action was taken.

 

The Irvington Fire Department Annual Spring Festival is scheduled for May 18, 2024.
