4/15/2024—The Cloverport City Council approved Mary Mittleberg as the new City Clerk at their regular meeting Monday evening.

In other business, Mayor Candy Weatherholt said the audit of city finances will begin next week. She also said the State Division of Water will conduct an analysis of water rates. She said there will be a city-wide cleanup April 27, beginning at 10:00am.

The Council discussed a nuisance property on Main Street. One wall of the building has collapsed. Councilman Ethan Lamar said the Council should amend the current nuisance ordinance to put “more teeth” into enforcement. Police Chief Chris Woosley said the State Fire Marshall’s Office is coming to inspect the building and possibly offer solutions.

The Police Department made 79 traffic stops in March. They responded to eight calls outside city limits and received 49 other calls. They made seven arrests and issued three city and 18 state citations.

Public Works Director Eddie Lee said he is working with the Division of Water to identify leaks. The Council approved the purchase of a 61-inch mower at a cost of $320.00 dollars per month for 36 months. There are no interest charges.

The Fire Department made ten runs in March. The department is in need of air bottles and more volunteers.

The Council discussed having a heavy trash pick-up but took no action.

The Council delayed action on employee vacation rollover and 401K plans until after the audit.
