3/18/2024—Cloverport Mayor Candy Weatherholt announced the resignation of City Clerk Keri Lee and Assistant City Clerk Sarah Riney at the regular meeting of the City Council Monday evening.  She said anyone interested in the positions is asked to contact City Hall.

The mayor informed the Council that the City of Hardinsburg has increased the wholesale water rate to $2.30 per thousand gallons.

The Council tabled action on employee vacation time and 401 K plans.

The Police Department received 116 calls for service in February.  They made seven arrests; issued one summons; issued three city and fifteen state citations; and served four warrants.  Chief Chris Woosley said he is writing grants for a police cruiser and ammunition.  He also talked about keeping animals on leash and the rise of fentanyl cases.  He said the Weatherholt Hills Apartment basement and the Community Church were available for emergency shelter.

The Fire Department made nine runs in February.

Public Works Director Eddie Lee said he needs a new commercial mower.  No action was taken.

There will be a clean up at the Ballpark on March 24 at 2:00pm.

Samantha Lucas then addressed the Council regarding an open records request from Councilman Jason Easley.  Easley wanted to how many times Cloverport Police Officers respond to calls outside city limits.  Lucas said she provided the information.  Sheriff Billy Richardson added that the department has switched reporting systems.  Police Chief Chris Woosley said he will provide the Council with the number of responses that are not in city limits.

Councilman Ethan Lamar then stated that the City Clerk and Assistant City Clerk resigned because of “harassment”.  He said the number of record requests by Easley had increased in the past months.  Easley stated that he was seeking financial records, which have not been available to the Council since Lee started her job as City Clerk.  At the last meeting, Lee stated that she was told to have an audit prior to making any financial statements available.  No audit has been performed.  Lamar asked Easley to resign from the Council, but he declined.
