3/18/2024—Magistrates approved a motion to expand broadband services to five areas in the 2nd and 6th Districts at the regular meeting of Breckinridge Fiscal Court Monday morning.  The County has $1.01 million in funds currently available. Additional funds are expected.

 

In other business, the Court approved excess fees of $140,537.05 from the County Clerks’ office, pending audit.  In a related matter, magistrates approved purchase of two voting machines from Harp Election Services at a cost of $13,552.00.

 

The Court approved the Detention Center Pay Scale.  All employees will receive a 3% increase.  The Detention Center’s Personnel Policy was approved.  Magistrates received a copy of the Jail’s Fiscal Year budget of $3,357,610.00.  No action was taken on the matter.  The current inmate population is 204.

 

The Court approved the first reading of an ordinance amending the current budget.  The Jail Fund increased by $44,018.78 and the Road Fund increased by $527,937.43.

 

Magistrates approved a preventative one-year maintenance contract at the Judicial Center with Lusk Mechanical.  The total is $7,786.80.

 

Two resolutions were approved.  The first approves a $331,805 Grant from the Kentucky Product Development Initiative for water and sewer line expansion at the Hardinsburg Industrial Park.  The second resolution approves a Jail Arraignment Equipment Phase II Grant of $44,019.00 for video equipment at the Detention Center.

 

The Court approved a water line license for the City of Hardinsburg for Henning Lane and Lyons Daugherty Lane.

 

The Sheriff’s Department received 824 calls for service in February.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Jenny Pile, representing the Breckinridge County Coalition, discussed implementation of a Harm Reduction Program utilizing Opioid Abatement Funds.  The plan utilizes evidence-based programs; hiring a Community Resource Liaison; and combining several existing community resources.  The County has approximately $100,000 funds on hand and is expected to receive an additional $27,000 this year.

 

Jaclyn Walden requested $5,000 for the County Fair Board.  The funds would be used for rock, maintenance, and supplies.

 

Ginny Hamm asked the Court for $1,000 for repairs and maintenance at the Breckinridge County Historical Society’s Museum.

 

Niles Hegge asked for clarification on litter abatement highway right of ways.
