Sports: Lady Tiger Soccer Season Ends; Volleyball Wins; MLB Playoffs

BEAVER DAM (10/12/21) — The BCHS Lady Tiger Soccer team’s history-making season ended Tuesday night in a 10-0 loss to Owensboro Catholic in the region semifinals at Ohio County. Breckinridge County concluded their season with a record of 10 wins and 10 losses. 

LOUISVILLE (10/12/21) — Lady Tiger Volleyball won their fourth straight match in a four-set (20-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-17) victory at Louisville Holy Cross. They are scheduled to travel to Edmonson County tomorrow night.

UNDATED (AP) — The Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros have advanced to baseball’s League Championship Series. The Braves erased deficits of 2-0 and 4-2 before Freddie Freeman launched a home run with two out in the eighth to give Atlanta a 5-4 triumph over Milwaukee. Jose Altuve belted a three-run homer, scored four times and stole a base as the Astros eliminated the White Sox in Game 4 of the Division Series, 10-1.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers forced a Game 5 in their NL Division Series by getting two-run homers from Mookie Betts and Will Smith in a 7-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. Six LA pitchers combined on a seven-hitter and blanked the Giants until the fifth inning. Walker Buehler was reached for three hits over 4 1/3 innings and left with a 4-0 lead.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky coach Mark Stoops says defensive tackle Octavious Oxendine will miss the rest of the season with a lower leg injury sustained in the No. 11 Wildcats’ 42-21 win over LSU. The announcement comes as Oxendine was named Southeastern Conference co-defensive line player of the week. The Wildcats face top-ranked Georgia on Saturday.
