Sports: BCHS Softball; Middle School Volleyball; NCAA Tournament

UNDATED (03/30/21) — The Breckinridge County Lady Tiger softball team took their first loss of the early season in a 6-2 result to Ohio County on Tuesday afternoon. They host Muhlenberg County on Friday. The Fighting Tiger baseball is slated to travel to Owensboro Apollo this afternoon.

UNDATED (03/30/21) — Owensboro Apollo claimed the Girls Basketball region title Tuesday night at Sportscenter, topping Meade County, 52-37. Apollo will take on Henderson in the Girls Sweet Sixteen next week in Lexington. The Boys State Tournament opens today at Rupp Arena.

UNDATED (03/30/21) — In the Green  River Valley Conference Middle School Volleyball tournament, St. Romuald’s 8th grade team defeated Breckinridge County in three sets (21-19, 18-21 and 15-12) to face Grayson County for the final tonight following the 7th Grade final between Breckinridge County and St. Romuald at 5:30.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Drew Timme provided 15 of his 23 points in the first half as Gonzaga rolled to an 85-66 win over USC in the West Region final Tuesday night to advance to the Final Four. Former UK player Johnny Juzang scored 28 as 11th-seed UCLA upset Michigan, 51-49 to reach the Final Four.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Lexie Hull scored 21 points and Stanford reached the women’s Final Four by rallying for a 78-63 victory over Louisville Tuesday night. Stanford trailed by 12 midway through the third quarter before scoring 13 consecutive points to take back the lead.
