Sports: Tigers Fall In Opener; UK Beats Vandy; ‘Cats QB Wilson To Transfer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Olivier Sarr scored 24 points, Davion Mintz made the game-winning 3-pointer with 47 seconds left and Kentucky beat Vanderbilt 77-74 for its ninth-straight win against the Commodores. NEW YORK (AP) — DeVonta Smith of Alabama is the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy in 29 seasons, becoming the first since Michigan’s Desmond Howard back in 1991. Quarterbacks had won 17 of the previous 20 Heisman trophies, including the previous four. Smith is the third Alabama player to win the Heisman, all since 2009.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson says he will enter the NCAA transfer portal for his final season of eligibility after leading the Wildcats to two bowl wins in three years. Wilson announced his intention to transfer in an Instagram post in which he thanked his Kentucky coaches and teammates.
