Beshear Pushes Mask Mandate Enforcement In Reporting COVID Cases

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky has reported 11 more coronavirus-related deaths and nearly 900 new cases. Gov. Andy Beshear reported the new numbers Thursday. He also disclosed more details of efforts to enforce his statewide mask mandate, which was extended for another 30 days. He says the state Labor Cabinet previously issued citations, fines or closure orders to dozens of organizations for non-compliance and is now stepping up enforcement. The governor also urged Kentuckians to call a hotline to report violations of businesses checking out people who aren’t wearing masks. The governor reported 884 more coronavirus cases Thursday for a statewide total surpassing 77,000 cases since the pandemic began. Kentucky deaths now total 1,234.
