WESTVIEW (12/02/19) — Emergency crews were called to a report of a three vehicle accident on Highway 259 South near the intersection of Highway 690 just after 10 Monday morning. Two people were taken to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital for their injuries. According to Deputy Tyler Hardin with the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department, 42-year-old Eric A. Smith had stopped to make a left turn from the southbound lane of Highway 259, in a 2007 Dodge Caravan. A 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by 38-year-old Tony D. Horton of Leitchfield, had come to a stop behind Smith as he waited for traffic to clear before making the turn. A third vehicle, a 1994 Olds Cutlass, driven by 74-year-old Michael D. Snortum of Westview, struck Horton’s vehicle in the rear, forcing it into the rear of Smith’s vehicle. Snortum and Horton were transported to the hospital by Breck Central EMS. Smith and a Passenger, 58-year-old Mark B. Hobbs of Westview were uninjured. Harned Fire Department assisted at the scene.
