Sports News, 10-30-19: Lady Tiger Volleyball; BCMS Girls Basketball; Nats Force Game Seven

LEWISPORT (10/30/19) — The Breckinridge County High School Lady Tiger volleyball team plays in the 3rd Region tournament semifinals tonight at 6 against Apollo at Hancock County High School. The winner advances to the Championship game tomorrow night.

LEITCHFIELD (10/29/19) — In girls middle school basketball from Tuesday, the Breckinridge County 7th grade team defeated Grayson County by a score of 32-14 while the 8th grade team lost to the Cougars, 43-36.

HOUSTON (AP) _ Anthony Rendon drove in five runs and Stephen Strasburg pitched into the ninth inning as the Washington Nationals whipped the Houston Astros, 7-2 to send the World Series to a seventh game. Rendon was 3-for-5 with an RBI single, a two-run homer and a two-run double as the Nationals pulled within one victory of the first World Series title in franchise history. Game seven is tonight in Houston.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Anthony Davis scored 40 points _ including a franchise record with 26 made free throws _ along with 20 rebounds for the fourth 40 point-20 rebound game of his career as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 120-91 on Tuesday night. It is Davis’ first 40-20 game since 2016.

DENVER (AP) _ The Dallas Mavericks are 3-1 after turning an 11-point, third-quarter deficit into a 109-106 victory at Denver. Maxi Kleber had 14 points, seven rebounds and a key block late in the game to help Dallas hand the Nuggets their first loss in four games. Nine Mavericks players scored in double figures.

 MIAMI (AP) _ Jimmy Butler hit his first four shots and scored 21 points as the Miami Heat downed the visiting Atlanta Hawks, 112-97. Butler was 5 for 11 from the floor, and went 10 for 15 from the line in his team debut after missing Miami’s first three games following the birth of a daughter. Tyler Herro scored 19 of his 29 points in the second quarter to help the Heat build a 10-point halftime lead.

UNDATED (AP) _ Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor has decided to bench quarterback Andy Dalton, ending his nine-season run as a starter. The move came two days after a 24-10 loss to the Rams in London left Cincinnati 0-8 for the first time in 11 years. The first-year coach decided to use the bye week to get rookie Ryan Finley ready to face the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 10 at Paul Brown Stadium.

ATLANTA (AP) — The chairman of the NCAA board of governors says the association hopes to avoid a court battle against states that are attempting to pass laws aimed at dismantling NCAA rules. The NCAA board voted on Tuesday to allow athletes to profit from their names, images and likenesses.
