IRVINGTON (04/08/19) — A female bald eagle rescued from Hancock County and rehabilitated at the Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary near Irvington will be released on Tuesday (04/16).
The bird, unable to fly was found and brought to the sanctuary, where it was determined that the eagle had mangled flight feathers, causing her to be unable to get enough lift to fly, but was otherwise healthy. The bird, with a wing span of over six feet, needed some time for her flight feathers to grow in so that she could be released. After months of being closely monitored, the eagle has been deemed ready for release.
The eagle is to be released at a location along Riverview Drive in Lewisport.
The public is invited.
