UNDATED (03/12/18) — Both Kentucky and Murray State are headed west for the NCAA Tournament: the Wildcats are a five seed in the South, but play their first round game in Boise, Idaho on Thursday (03/15) against Davidson. The Racers are a 12 seed in the West Region; they play West Virginia on Friday (03/16) in San Diego.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Virginia, Villanova, Kansas and Xavier have been given the No. 1 seeds in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament by the selection committee. The Cavaliers head the South Region and have the first overall seed among the 68 participants. Villanova is the No. 1 seed in the East, the Jayhawks have the top seed in the Midwest and Xavier is the first seed in the West.

UNDATED (03/12/18) — Louisville and Western Kentucky will head to the NIT: the Cardinals will host Nothern Kentucky in a first-round game tomorrow night at the Yum Center, while the Hilltoppers will host Boston College in at Diddle Arena on Tuesday night.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 29 points to lead Kentucky to its fourth straight SEC tournament crown, 77-72 over No. 13 Tennessee. Gilgeous-Alexander was 10 of 16 from the field and added seven rebounds to help the Wildcats claim their 31st conference tournament title. Kevin Knox added 18 points and Quade Green had 10 for Kentucky.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS (03/11/18) — Mercer County has defended their Kentucky High School girls state basketball championship in dominating fashion with a 74-34 win over Louisville Mercy on Sunday. The Titans become the first team since Louisville Sacred Heart in 2002-2003 to repeat as champions.

UNDATED (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have ended their longest losing streak of the season by downing the defending NBA champions. The Wolves had dropped three in a row before Karl-Anthony Towns delivered 31 points and 16 rebounds in a 109-103 win over the visiting Warriors. Other winners from Sunday were: Toronto, Indiana, the Lakers, Utah, Denver, Philadelphia and Chicago.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) — Tiger Woods came up one shot short of a chance for his first PGA Tour Victory in five years. Woods missed a birdie putt on 18 that would have forced a playoff with Paul Casey at the Valspar Championship. Casey claimed his first PGA Tour victory since 2009.

AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Kevin Harvick held off Kyle Busch for his record-extending ninth win at ISM Raceway near Phoenix. Harvick is the first driver to win three straight Cup races since Joey Logano in 2015. Chase Elliott was third, followed by Denny Hamlin and pole-sitter Martin Truex Jr.
