Stefon Diggs seven receptions for 93 yards, including a pair of touchdown grabs in the final 4:08 of the first half. Rookie Dalvin Cook rushed for 127 yards in his first game since taking over the top running back chores from Adrian Peterson, who finished with 18 yards on six carries for the Saints.
DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos blocked a field goal attempt with a second left to preserve a 24-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Denver took a 24-7 lead into the fourth quarter but had two turnovers that were converted into Philip Rivers touchdown passes. Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian threw two TD passes to Bennie Fowler and ran for another score.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville senior running back Jeremy Smith will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his right foot in practice last week. The injury means the No. 14 Cardinals will be without one of their top rushers in the team’s Atlantic Coast Conference showdown against third-ranked Clemson.

The Brewers never got a runner past first base and managed just three hits against Steven Brault and the Pirates bullpen. Andrew McCutchen, Starling Marte and Jordy Mercer homered as the Pirates ended a five-game skid.
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Yankees are within three games of the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox after Todd Frazier’s three-run homer capped a five-run fourth in a 5-1 win over the Rays at New York’s Citi Field. Winning pitcher David Robertson worked a career-high 2 2/3 innings after CC Sabathia (sah-BATH’-ee-uh) was removed with two on and one out in the fifth. The series was moved from St. Petersburg because of Hurricane Irma.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have stretched their winning streak to 19 games, one off the American League record held by the 2002 Oakland Athletics. Francisco Lindor drove in four runs and Jose Ramirez added a two-run homer in an 11-0 dismantling of Detroit. The Indians haven’t lost since Aug. 23 and have outscored their opponents 132-32 in the streak.
LIMA, Peru (AP) — Los Angeles has received its formal go-ahead from the International Olympic Committee to host the 2028 Summer Games. The full IOC will award the 2024 Games to Paris and the 2028 Games to Los Angeles on Wednesday.
