LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jared Goff passed for a career-high 306 yards and a touchdown in his first victory as an NFL starter, and the Los Angeles Rams routed the Indianapolis Colts 46-9 Sunday. The Colts played without starting quarterback Andrew Luck, who was held out to recover from a shoulder injury.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Baltimore’s rebuilt defense picked off Andy Dalton four times and forced him to fumble Sunday, making it easy for Joe Flacco in his return from a back injury as the Ravens pulled away to a 20-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens ended a five-game losing streak to the Bengals.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Derek Carr threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns, and the Oakland Raiders beat the Tennessee Titans 26-16 in Nashville. Both Carr and Titans QB  Marcus Mariota broke their right leg hours apart on Christmas Eve for season-ending injuries last year. Mariota threw 191 yards and run for a score in his first game back.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals have clinched their fourth NL East title in six years by beating Philadelphia, 3-2 while the Miami Marlins were losing to the Atlanta Braves, 10-8 in 11 innings. Stephen Strasburg threw eight innings of two-hit ball to extend his scoreless streak to a franchise-record 34 innings.

The Cubs’ lead in the NL Central is down to two games over Milwaukee and St. Louis after the Brewers completed a three-game sweep at Wrigley Field, 3-1. The Cardinals rolled to a 7-0 rout of Pittsburgh as Yadier Molina hit a three-run homer and tied a career high with five RBIs.

Reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello was dealt his major league-leading 17th loss as the Red Sox fell to the Rays, 4-3. The Yankees beat Texas, 16-7 to  cut Boston’s lead in the AL East to 3 1/2 games. Aaron Judge is the second major league rookie with a 40-homer season after going deep twice.

Six teams are within three-and-a-half games of the second American League Wild Card spot. The Twins lost to Kansas City, 11-3, allowing the Angels, Rangers, Royals, Mariners, Orioles and Rays to remain in the chase.
