BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Jim McDaniels, a 7-footer who led Western Kentucky to the NCAA Final Four in 1971 has died. Tied for all-time leading scorer at WKU, McDaniels was a consensus All-American during the 1970-71 season while leading the Hilltoppers to third place at the Final Four. He was 69.

Chicago’s lead in the NL Central is down to four games after Milwaukee beat Cubs, 2-0 on Friday. The Cardinals along with the Brewers are three back after St. Louis topped Pittsburgh, 4-1. The two are chasing Arizona for the second Nl Wild Card spot. Colorado holds the other Wild Card.

Boston put another game’s distance between themselves and the Yankees in the AL East: the Red Sox beat Tampa Bay Friday night, 9-3 while New York lost to Texas, 11-5. Boston’s lead over New York now stands at four-and-a-half games.

The Cleveland Indians won their 16th in a row with a 5-0 win over Baltimore. Minnesota holds the second of the two American League Wild Card spots with an 8-5 win over Kansas City to maintain their lead over the L.A. Angels. The Yankees hold the other Wild Card Spot.

UNDATED (AP) — A federal judge has blocked Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension over a domestic violence case. Last year’s NFL rushing leader was already cleared to play in the opener against the New York Giants on Sunday.
