The Breckinridge County High School Fighting Tiger baseball team snapped a three-game skid with a 6-3 win Monday (04/10) against John Hardin at the Ballpark. Brady Higdon went 4-4 with 2 home runs for the Tigers, who are in action again Friday (04/14 with a double-header against Meade County.

The Lady Tiger softball team saw their seven-game win streak snapped Monday in a 7-2 loss to Ohio County. Breckinridge County will look to even the matter later today when they host the Lady Eagles. WXBC will have coverage of the game beginning just before 5:30 this afternoon.

CHICAGO (AP) — Anthony Rizzo hit a game-winning single off Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Monday night after raising a World Series championship banner for the first time at Wrigley Field. DETROIT (AP) — Justin Verlander and Chris Sale dominated in a matchup of ace pitchers before Nicholas Castellanos singled in the go-ahead run off Sale in the eighth inning, lifting the Detroit Tigers over the Boston Red Sox 2-1 Monday. Verlander gave up an unearned run, three hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings. American League winners were Oakland, Seattle and the New York Yankees.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Paul George scored 17 of his 27 points in the opening quarter and the Indiana Pacers inched closer to clinching a berth in the NBA playoffs with a 120-111 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.

BOSTON (AP) — The Celtics now control their own fate in their quest to secure the Eastern Conference’s top playoff seed. Isaiah Thomas scored 27 points to help Boston beat back a fourth-quarter charge and defeat the Brooklyn Nets 114-105 Monday night.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Steve Fisher is retiring from a basketball coaching career that includes a national championship at Michigan, directing the Fab Five and then turning San Diego State into a West Coast power. Two people with knowledge of the situation say that the 72-year-old is retiring after 18 seasons in San Diego.
