Fatality Accident

Traffic was diverted on US 60 in Cloverport for about 2 hours Thursday(04/06) morning, following an accident on the Clover Creek Bridge.  According to Chief Deputy Bruce Anthony, with the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened around 9:50 am at the bridge, when 86-year-old Elbert Tindle of Cloverport apparently lost control of his westbound ’94 Toyota Pick-up, turning sideways in the roadway.  The truck was struck by an eastbound 2012 Kia, driven by 46-year-old Mary Waddell of Owensboro.  Tindle and Waddell were treated at the scene By Breck Central EMS and airlifted to University of Louisville hospital by Air Evac.  Elbert Tindle succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  A third vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Equinox, driven by 26-year-old Helen Mingus of Hardinsburg, which was also eastbound, was struck by debris from the collision, causing significant damage.  Mingus was not injured.  Sheriff Todd Pate, Cloverport Police Chief Wagner Baskett, Breck Central EMS, Hardinsburg & Cloverport Fire Departments and Air Evac Life Team from Hardinsburg & Paoli, Indiana assisted Deputy Anthony at the scene.
